Mary Jane ARMSTRONG was born in India about 1851 and moved to NSW Australia and married James IRONS 2 January 1870. They lived at Palmers Island and had 9 children. 1870 Samuel James, 1872 Daniel Archibald, 1875 Letitia, 1877 John Henry, 1880 Jessie Elizabeth, 1881 Mary, 1882 William, 1885 Edith, 1893 Frank.

They divorced in 1895 and Mary Jane moved to Grafton with the youngest child, Frank. I cannot find out what happened to Mary Jane after this and hope someone knows what happened to her. I would very much like to locate her grave.

I have traced Frank, he died a bachelor in Sydney in his 50s.

Mary Jane ARMSTRONG gave her place of birth as Calcutta, India but on the LDS website a Mary Jane ARMSTRONG was born at Madras, Tamil Nadu, India on 10 April 1851 and married a James IRONS in Grafton, NSW in 1870. Looks like the same Mary Jane ARMSTRONG. I have checked endless passenger lists to Australia but cannot find her listed anywhere.

We were told her father was a Colonel ARMSTRONG in the Indian Army. I've checked military records for India but could not locate a Col ARMSTRONG.

Does anyone know anything about Mary Jane IRONS (nee ARMSTRONG)?
