Bogged Down

My first attempt at doing a family tree and I pick a doozy,my wifes family.
For a long time King Island,Tasmania,Australia, family they know surprisingly little of their roots.
On my wifes mothers side, they know of grandparents and great grand parents, but they stop at a gentleman by the name of WILLIAM HICKMOTT,who was the assistant lighthouse keeper at Cape Wickham,King Island,Tasmania, all I know is that he was born somewhere in England in 1840 and died on King Island in 1925,I know he married, and had children, one of his daughters married a shipwreck survivor, who lived with them after he was wrecked,a 13 year old boy who went by the name of H.J Grave(harry-henry?),who claimed to have been born in GEELONG,VICTORIA,AUSTRALIA,in 1861,but research in the libraries genealogical database for a birth proved fruitless.

Even took out a trial subscription at ancestry.com,found a couple of Hickmotts that were born at the right time but it won't let me have the details until I pay them 40 US dollars, the buggers already got me for 20US bucks! now they want more for another section,THIS IS SO BLOODY FRUSTRATING!!

I realise things cost money of course, but I don't have this kind of money,I got a bloody mortgage and 3 little tackers,
OH well, guess I'll slog on the hard way, maybe I'll luck out.

update soon
