I am researching the Beattie family in Haverhill, Essex County, Massachusetts, USA. I'm trying to find their Irish ancestors. According to census records, they immigrated from Ireland to the US in 1855. I have been unable to find a passenger ship that arrived during that year that lists them as a passenger. They settled in Bradford, Massachusetts, USA. I have Charles Beattie, born approx 1800 in Ireland. The census did not show him having a spouse, but she may have come over and died before the census. His son James Beattie born 1830 in Ireland, died Sept 1880. James had a wife, Maragaret Evans, born 1833 in Ireland, died 10/9/1904. They had one child, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Beattie born in Sept, 1860 in Haverhill/Bradford, Massachusetts. They lived in that area until they passed away. Elizabeth Beattie married Edgar L. Allen, from Vermont. They are my great grandparents. I'm also looking for Edgar Allen's heritage. I cannot find any information on his parents.
