Richard and Elizabeth were married in 1810 therefore Elizabeth was probably pardoned shortly before this. I have read in Gwenda Bowman's book that Elizabeth was assigned to Richard so I suspect he became a free man much earlier.

Hi Marscus, I have read the notes with interest. Edwin Palmer and Patahi TeHihutu were my forebears. I am travelling to Tasmania in January and I wondered if you knew of any relatives in that area. I think that Edwin was with his Uncle in Hobart when he sailed for the seals and whales in NZ.as a 17year old.
Waiting with interest for your response.
