Thank you wyn, I can add that to my family tree. I
I have found a short piece written by my mother's younger sister, Beryl Dellow Penman (nee Monahan) about Ann Dellow -this came from our Aunt Kate.
'From stories handed down I have come to the conclusion that Ann and her daughter Mary were both very dominant personalities who ruled supreme in their dominions but did not always get along together. Aunt Kate told me that she would have been called Norah Ann if it hadn't been for Harry's sister Mary. The two grandmothers Ann Dellow and Norah Kilmartin had decided that the first girl of Harry's would be called after them, but Mary told Harry she'd be darned if she let his mother and mother-in-law name his daughter.'
Further on she says 'In the later years of her life Ann had her time well filled helping to bring up the younger sons of John James who had married her daughter Annie and died at the birth of her youngest son. She had a two roomed hut on the James farm and two of the younger boys slept in bunks there until they were old enough to move into the Big House. The baby, Charlie, was taken over by Mary Oxnam until he was old enough to return to his own family.
Ann wasn't very mobile in her later years but always caught up with the boys with her walking stick after they had forgotten they deserved the disciplne.'
