Auguste Linden was born in 1857 in Solingen, Germany. She came to the US in 1884. She was a dietician at St. Charles Childrens Home in St. Charles, Mo. She first married a Rev. Paulisch who died. They had no children.On Jun 6, 1887 in Quincy, Il. she married Rev. Eduard Berger who was a widow with seven children: Edward, Pauline, Laura, Paul, John, Herman, and Frederich. She had five children during her marriage to Rev. Berger: Lydia, Hugo, Augusta, Eugenia ( my Grandmother ), and Olivia.Eduard was a minister with the Evangelical Church and served churches in Marthasville, Augusta, and Carondelet, Mo. and Alhambra and Brighton, Il. Eduard died on Jan. 3, 1906 and Auguste died in 1939. Eugenia(my grandmother) married Fred G. Scheffel on Sept 3, 1912 and they had three children: Loraine( my Mother ), Elvera, and Bellmont(Butch). In their early married years they lived in Madison County, Il.but later moved to Brighton, Il. Fred died on Dec 26, 1968 with complications of Diabetes. Eugenia died on Feb 26, 1978. Loraine married Rev. Herbert Rinderknecht on Jan 20, 1944 in Brighton, Il. They had two children: Diane(me) and Kenneth. Herbert served churchs in Iowa, Mo. and Il.Herbert died on Aug 8, 2000 and Loraine died on Oct 16, 2004. Diane married Charles Presnell on April 02, 1966 at St. Johns United Church of Christ in Pana, Il. They had four children : Mark, Tami, Cory, and Trey.Charles died of lung cancer on Oct 3, 2004.
