Grettings I am looking for help .. Trying to research my whakapapa.. On both mother and fathers side.. my mothers family come form waimiha/ Te hape surnames are Kereopa / tutaki
On my father\'s side are Nelson /uerata / maupakanga from kawhia.. Hope someone can help (:

In your case, I think the best place to start is with the NZ Govt Births, Deaths & Marriages Online website: www.bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz
I did a quick search on your Tutaki name, deaths from 1881 to 1990, and got a list of 56 names! Marriages with Tutaki as groom surname from 1860 to 1935 gives 9 matches, and bride's surname, 5 matches.
There are restrictions on what info you can ask for, due to privacy reasons I guess, but there's a lot of old stuff to be found!
