Just Family

Journal by Justseeker

I am looking for info on Helena Forrester Johnston (nee Just) married in 1921 to Stanley George Johnson who ran a Billiard Room in Warkworth. Then worked for his father in the family Bakery in Papatoetoe
Stan died in 1928 of cancer aged 38
Helena then seemed to disappear, unable to be found even on her fathers death,
I have since found her in Sydney from 1933 to 1937, she then disappears again.
It is said the Johnson family blamed Helena for Stans death, again it is said that Stan had a large mole on his back, which was probably a Melanoma.
Helena removed the mole with a razor blade and soon after Stan died, consequently she fled to Australia.
Can anyone add to this, maybe from the Johnson side

Thank you every body for your information it has filled the gaps nicely and answered lots of questions.
shame my mum daphne Barber nee Just never lived long enough to know where her sister Lena went to

Walter Leo Carmichael Bedford is the son of Walter Leo Bedford , he died in Thailand , no issue
Aubert Charles Bedford was the other son born 1919 , he would have been raised by Helena , yes it was a pity that Helena left New Zealand with no contact but more will be revealed about that soon

A quick Google search of my paternal grandmother brought me to this thread.
Am intrigued by Dot111’s promise of more information soon ...

Greetings from Melbourne.
The date stamps on the previous posts told me that this thread had been quiet for some time. It’s a happy coincidence that you found my post just as new information is expected.
Until relatively recently, I had no idea about the circumstances that brought my family to this side of the Tasman. I’d never really thought about it. But now, it is intriguing 😃
