Louise,
Some of the features when signing for an account were designed by the original owner/operator of this site. It has not been changed for a number of years. So perhaps signing for a specific country is no longer supported (individually).

This is an international site, with searches covering every country in the world.
I am a Kiwi. I have written a few thousand journals on this site just covering New Zealand - the people: ancestors/descendants, the cemeteries/urupa: by name and/or town, all 16 Districts: Waikato, Southland etc. Our soldiers, by name, war or burial etc etc.

The best and quickest way for you to find any Kiwis on this site is to go to the box at top right (just above the MyHeritage ad) and type in the name you want to find. This will open up a list with EVERY journal ever written on this site, with the name you are looking for included in the journal/post.
For example, if you write the name Auckland, you will get a list of journals with that city mentioned. Looking for Petersen? another list etc. However, I find writing Peter John Petersen or Onehunga, Auckland does not work so well. Try just typing one word.

Otherwise, let me know who or what you are looking for and I will help you find it
