History of the Delo(e) Surname, 1232 A.D. to the Present

Journal by Polymath

I have recently completed a complete history of the Delo(e) surname; that is, all of the Delos whose primary ancestor in America was Michael Matthew Dillow-Delo (1743-1782). In America, we settled Clarion County, Pennsylvania in the early 1800s.

The name Delo(also DeLo Deloe DeLoe)is French. Our ancestors were Huguenots (French Protestants)who emerged during the Protestant Reformation. A quarter of all Huguenots in France fled between 1560 and 1750 to Protestant-controlled countries: Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, and England.

Although my manuscript contains the vast majority of Delo(e)s in the 14 lines emanating from George Michael Delo (1773-1848)of Pennsylvania, I failed to locate the first Delo(e) who landed on American shores. It does however include hundreds of Delos who resided in Huguenot-controlled towns and cities in Frnace, and describes the experience our ancestors had in England. A number of Delos still reside there.

The manuscript (163 pages) is free: all you need to do is send a request to: artist.writer22@gmail.com
