a Susannah Adams married James Stockley in Romford, Essex 1840 (Q4 12 436). If it is the same couple then she was obviously born earlier than 1830. There is an 1851 UK census of James and Sussanah Stockley he was born 1821 in Hornchurch, Essex she 1818 Dagenham, Essex. They have 3 children, Emily 1844 Dagenham, Hannah 1846, Dagenham, and James 1849 St George, Middlesex. James is a Police Constable K Division and they are living at 24 Chapel Street, St George in the East, Tower Hamlets, Middlesex
Thankyou. I believe the date was given to me by another family researcher. If this is the correct family the son called James married and had a daughter Jane born in 1855 in St George in The East. She later emigrated to NZ and married James Hainsworth.
If that was correct then it appears as if we are missing a generation still as Susannah and James would be far to young for a grandchild to be born in 1855.
OK Think I have found the answer in 1861 UK Census they are living at 5 Anthony Street, St George in the East, James is still a Police Constable. They now have more children including a Jane, so here they are
Robert D 1854
Jane A 1856
Henry 1853
all born in St George in the East
You are wonderful. Thankyou so much. I had seen the two lots of children and wondered if it was two different families as there seemed to be a few Susannah Adams around. The ten year gap between the two lots of children also made me question if they were the same. The names Emily, Hannah, Henry, James and Robert are all well used family names as well.
Thanks again
