Looking my information on my Aunt Rose Gingras
Hi,
I'm looking for information on my Aunt Rose Gingras, she died around 1965..to 1968.. I'm not exactly sure about the dates. She was a nun living in Montreal, but I don't know what group of sisters she belong to..
Some of her brothers and sister's names were; ( not all of them because I don't know all their names)
Alphonse Gingras
Jean Gingras (I think Jean moved to USA)
Regina Gingras
Ruth Gingras
Cecile
Leopold Gingras

Hi Reba,
Do you have any of the spouses names of these Gingras siblings? It is actually easiest to identify them by the non-Gingras spouse's name.
Yes, I have one Aunt (Aunt Cecile Gingras) She married and her last name became Tardif. She lived in Amos, Abitibi, Quebec. I don't think she is still living.
I have record of one Cecile who married a Maurice Tardiff on Oct 21 1933 in Stanstead, Quebec Canada.
Her parents were Deziel Gingras and Olive Vincent, also married in Stanstead on June 29, 1896.
Her Grandparents were Leopold Gingras and Rosalie Desruisseaux.
Siblings: Alphonse (M), Therese (F), and Alice (F)
Given more time, I have several generations back in the Gingras line. If you think this is your Cecile (I have no doubt), let me know.
Hi Scott,
Yes, I think that is her... I remembered that her husband's name was Maurice. The three siblings you have listed, are they Cecile's siblings or her grand parents siblings. I know that there was more than 3 siblings. Here are my aunt and dad's sibling names that I can remember;
Alphonse, Therese, Alice, Jean, Regina, Rose, Cecile and my dad, Leopold.
That is not the complete list of siblings, I can't remember then all. I am very interested in finding out all I can about my dad's family. I was an only child and my mother left me with my father when I very young. My father wasn't exactly the most "upstanding' citizen and therefore was on the move for most of my childhood. As you can well imagine, this has an had an effect on my life. Sometimes you just want to know your history in hopes of understanding something about ones self.
Thank you for all you help and I would be most please if you had any further family history.
Best regards,
Reba2010
Hi ScottJ,
I also have another question for you, the book on the Gingras family, is there an English translation? and do you have any suggestions as to where I can order a copy?
Thank you,
Reba 2010
Hi Reba,
The "book" that I have is a copy of a hand-typed(!) list of Gingras Family Marriages by Andrew Gingras of Manchester, NH.
I've heard of a Gingras book by Raymond Gingras from Quebec. That's in French, and from what I hear, he's not very keen on people translating/copying/digitizing it, unfortunately.
Hi Scott,
Thanks for the info, the "book" that you have is a hand-typed list. Is this list something that your are willing to share with others? If yes, how much does it cost?
You mentioned in an earlier email to me that ..."Given more time, I have several generations back in the Gingras line. If you think this is your Cecile (I have no doubt), let me know..."
Yes, I am interested in this information.
Thank you,
Rita Collins
My grandmother is the daughter of Cecile. I can easily find out the details.
