McIntee, McEntee

Journal by mom510707

This one I am finding difficult. My Grandmother was Kathryn Frances McIntee ( or McEntee) depending on where you look( Dad's birth cert says McIntee, census says her mom was McEntee, Social Security shows McIntyre. She was born about 1896 or so and had a sister who I believe was Elizabeth. They were raised on the Boston area of Massachusettes. Their parents were from Scotland. Kathryn married Kennteh Francis Holbrook. They resided in South Weymouth and had 2 sons, Leonard and Kenneth, both of who had families. I have discovered that no matter what the spelling, she would have belonged to the McKenzie Clan. I know that Elizabeth married a Mr Farrington ( posssibly Edward) and lived in Southern California in the 60's. Any news or family welcome.

Hi Mom510707
I'm interested in your McIntee relative. My McIntees/McIntees were also from Scotland. This is unusual as the McIntees are all originally from Ireland unless , as you have mentioned, there was an error with the name and they were really Mcintyre - a Scottish name ( apparently McIntyre may come from McIntee and vice versa). There were only a few families in Scotland around the period 1850 to 70. Their children were subsequently born in Scotland, obviously. So, perhaps there might be a link between us. My family came in Glasgow about 1850-60 as a result of the Great Hunger in Ireland in the mid 1840s and were originally from Cavan. If you can give me some more details i might be able to work something out one way or the other.

Hi Frank,
Here is what I have been able to find in records and in family stuff... John R. McIntee b 1866 In Ireland married Annie Bertha Schrade b 1862 in Ireland. They both came to the US in 1872 as children but appeared to travel with the same group of folks.

Catherine Frances was born in 1893 in MA, Elizabeth b april 1891 in MA, Michael Frances b Jan 1886 in New Hampshire, Walter Edward b 4/5/1889 in New Hampshire and Francis Bernard ( Frank) was born in New Hampshire, not sure of the year. Al so living with them in 1910 was mary Garity born in 1906 ?
Also in the 1910 census the address is showing as 167 Charles Street, Cambridge MA
In the 1920 census Annie Macintee is showing as a Widow
In 1930 Annie McIntee is showing as a Mother in Law.

JOhns father may have been Daniel McIntee (McIntryre, McEntee) Born in Scotland and Mother Margaret Born in Scotland... I am working on trying to finalize that.. the othe rchoice may be Phil McIntee born in Ireland -m- Mary mcguire of Scotland.

I would really be interested in any information you find, and I would love to send anything else I come upon.

Thank you for your communication.

Regards,

Ramona in California USA
