At age 13 he migrated to Australia, leaving Plymouth, England on 26th October 1881 for Townsville Queensland, Australia, on the ship, "Durham".
In 1884, at the age of sixteen, he married Priscilla Worthington.
He set up a tin smithing business on Mossman Street in the goldfields of Charters Towers. He died in Charters Towers, Queensland, Australia.

Priscilla WORTHINGTON.
Born in England and was christened on 20th August 1865 at Christ Church, Ashton, Lancashire,England. Her occupation in England was that of a cotton weaver and dressmaker. In 1884,at age 19 she married John MCKAIG, in Charters Towers, Queensland,Australia. She died in Charters Towers, Queensland, Australia, on 26th October, 1936.

John Lawrance MCKAIG and Prisilla WORTHINGTON were the great grandparents of Joanne Klein (nee Young) Queensland, Australia.
