ianmacdonald on 2016-09-18 05:52:02A small detail. Although the record has him as George Fox Newburn it has fallen foul of a common error - he really was George Fox Mewburn (1817-1882) son of Henry Mewburn and Hannah Fox.
They had son in NZ - Henry Aitken Mewburn. I would very much like to know exactly where and when he was born and what happened to him.
George and Marjory moved to Tasmania. In 1845 they had a daughter, Margaret Hannah at Spring Bay (m Richard Sargent 1868 and had 5 children at Hobart. She did 1918, NSW). A son, Cullen Wordsworth Mewburn was born in 1848 at Spring Bay but died in 1853.

I see he was in Mandamah, NSW in 1899
