My name is edf and I am the G.G.Grandson of Josiah Fletcher b.1816 and Anne (Bird) Fletcher, married 1836 in Manchester
I would be very interested if anyone has information that would confirm that my G.G.G. Grandfather was indeed John Fletcher and my G.G.G. Grandmother was Mary Fletcher (maiden name Foden, previously married to Josiah Fletcher(victualler of old hall)..who sadly died of fever in 1811. Josiah and Mary had a daughter, Martha Fletcher b. 1806, whom I believe was my G.G. Grandfather Josiah Fletcher b. 1816, step sister. Martha married John Ralphs in 1832 and John Ralphs joined my G.G. Grandparents in Port Phillip Bay Australia in 1842 and to my knowledge Martha remained in England,(Martha was a witness of the marriage of Josiah to Ann Bird in 1836) I would be very interested if anyone has any history regarding Martha (Fletcher) Ralphs and also information about my G.G. Grandmother Anne (Bird) Fletcher who was remarried to George Hall (ex convict - highwayman) in 1845 after my G.G. Grandfather Josiah Fletcher tragically drowned at Merri Creek Victoria in 1845, George Hall died approximately 5 years later and Anne my G.G. Grandmother seems to have vanished ? Did she go back to England or did she re-marry and move to another state ? it was thought that Ann may have gone by her maiden name after the death of George Hall
Does anyone have information regarding Josiah Fletcher's parents, John Fletcher and Mary (knee Hilton) Fletcher... Manchester UK
Josiah Fletcher. b. 20-Oct 1816 in Hulme, d. 21-Jan 1845 by drowning at Merrie Creek in Victoria, Josiah married Ann Bird on the 9 Oct-1836 and they migrated to the Port Phillip Bay settlement in 1842 onboard the Sallsette.
Less than 12 months after Josiah's sudden death in 1845, Ann Fletcher married George Hall a former convict in December 1845
Josiah's parents are thought to be: John Fletcher (school master) who married Mary Hilton on the 25-Oct 1804, does anyone have any information regarding John Fletcher and Mary Hilton, birth dates, date of deaths and any other children they may have had, also any information on the final days and resting place of Ann (Bird) Fletcher, Hall
