Vining Family - Emigrated to Australia in 1842 then to New Zealand in 1864

Query by lvining

John VINING, Julia (nee Fitzgerald) and Family (one son John) emigrated from England? on the SEA QUEEN and landed in Melbourne Australia in 1842. My GF JAMES was born in Australia and he and his brother JOHN moved to New Zealand where they lived out their lives. I have all the VINING families in New Zealand covered in my family tree

I am looking for antecendants in ENGLAND that have connections with JOHN and JULIA. JOHN snr died in NZ and his age at death puts his birth date circa 1810.

Any assistance or connections would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Lynsey Vining

I found the family you described (John was born in Ireland in 1820, Julia was born in Middlesex England in 1824 and infant John was born in Ireland (both in Tyrone).

The family are listed as RC, johns occ is carpenter. They arrived in Port Phillip on the 15 May 1842 or 44. I am reading the ships log and some writing is not easy to read.
Cost per head for adults ?18-14s-0d.
Looks as though here was also a bounty of ?37 8s per family

hope this helps
